Sarotix Expense Tracker Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Sarotix Expense Tracker desktop application (the "App") handles your data. We design our software with privacy as our core foundation, ensuring your financial transactions and records remain entirely under your control.
1. 100% Offline-First Database
All data you enter into the App—including transactions, categories, budgets, accounts, and settings—is stored locally on your device. We use a secure local store and have zero cloud synchronization or database servers. Sarotix does not, and cannot, access, view, or store your financial data.
2. Local Password Protection
If you enable the App Lock password feature, your password is encrypted and stored locally on your device. Password validation takes place entirely within your local App instance. We do not store or transmit your password to any external servers, and we cannot reset or recover it if lost.
3. License Validation & Activation
To activate and verify your Pro license, the App communicates with our payment and licensing provider, Lemon Squeezy. During activation, the following details are sent to Lemon Squeezy:
- Your purchased license key.
- A non-reversible, one-way SHA-256 hash representing your device's unique hardware identifier (machine fingerprint).
This machine fingerprint is used exclusively to enforce licensing device limits (e.g., matching the license terms) and is stored securely by Lemon Squeezy. No financial statements, usernames, passwords, or transaction details are ever transmitted.
4. Zero Telemetry & Analytics
We believe you shouldn't be tracked. The App does not contain any third-party tracking, analytics engines, crash reporting trackers, or usage telemetry. We do not log what features you use, how long you use the App, or the size of your databases.
5. Local File Generation
All document and data exports (including PDF report generation, CSV sheets, and JSON backups) are processed entirely in-memory and written directly to your local file system. No files are processed on or uploaded to our servers.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update our App Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date of this page and, where appropriate, through application update release notes.
